                                                                Your Friendly Land Rover Club

Green Laning:-  The club regularly organize Green Lane runs in the Peak District and the surrounding area, details of these events will be detailed on this page as soon as the information comes in from the green lane coordinators.

Details of the 2008 Green Lane days are here see below for details

"2 DAY GREEN LANING / CAMPING WEEKEND IN NORTH EAST WALES"

Reservations have been made for 12 camping pitches on a camp site at Corwen near Llangollen for friday 30th May and Saturday 31st May 2008. Prices for camping are £6.00 for small tents and £8.00 for large tents per night.

The site has showers ,toilets and hot water to hand basins.Shops, pubs and restaurants are just a short drive away.

The idea is that we arrive on Friday afternoon/ evening and set off to navigate a 50 mile run the next day over hills moors and mountains. This should take a estimated 7 hours. We will start at Glyn Ceiriog and finish at Llandrillo, the route being covered by OS maps 125 and 126.

Written comments on the dangers of the route are:-
                  Scratches - occasional, moderate
                  Ruts - frequent,occasionally deep
                  Rocks - some extreme sections
Bogs - always stay on the track

It all sounds great fun and takes in the Wayfarer lane which is one of Britains longest lanes.

On Sunday we will do another exciting green lane for 4/5 hours ,aiming to leave for home at about 2pm.

A high level of recovery equipment will be expected of the vehicles taking part. Front and rear recovery points, various length strops and suitable shackles will be absolutely essential. The addition of winches, waffle boards, ground anchors, roll cages, spades, etc would also be an  advantage.Don't forget your tool kit either!

If you feel that you are "Up for this",please e-mail me (Eric Toyne) click here toyne@which.net giving me all details of your vehicle and level of equipment, the number and names of the people wanting to go,the size of your tent and a contact telephone number.
Please ask any questions that you may have and I will endeavour to find an answer for you.

At this stage in the proceedings I have no ideawhether we will get 4 or 44 interested people. We will obviously be limited to camping pitches and the size of one party that we can take over the hills, so get your application in as early as you can.

Let us hope for some good weather on that weekend  but I am sure that we will have a great time whatever the weather.

Eric Toyne
