                                                                Your Friendly Land Rover Club

We have got a challenge event in our calendar, And we have plans to add s second one we are just waiting for confirmation on a venue.

We have received the following invite from Spondon Off Road Club, we are just waiting for confirmation on

the fire extinguishers. the event does clash with one of our trials but this may not affect those of you that don't trial.

Dear Club Chairman / Events Secretary,

In recent years many off roading clubs have formed in the Midlands with good success and enjoyment. But what we have noticed is that these clubs rarely interact on any kind of level. Yet forums on Diff lock and other such sites see hundreds of off roaders talking together everyday regardless of what club they are in and seem to enjoy sharing there knowledge and experience. With this in mind we thought we would try and get all the Midland clubs together for an 'inter club competition', with the emphasis on fun rather than winning or losing. We will be able to cater for all types of vehicles from the heavily modified to the shiny family 4x4 and still make it a level playing field so anyone could win. There will also be special stages to take part in. At the end of the day two trophy’s will be awarded for most points scored and most extreme punches collected. This event will comply with M.S.A rules and will be well marshalled. We hope this will be a catalyst for annual events from all the Midland clubs and will bring the off road community close together. This way instead of just talking about it on the web we can actual experience it together. The event will be held at Shottle near Belper on the 15th June 2008. Driving will start at 9am, with scrutineering from 8am. Please give this event your consideration as your support will be vital to making this inter club event successful.

Fees have yet to be confirmed for entry, but it is likely to be around £25 per vehicle.

Entries are welcome from owners of trailered vehicles, subject to minimum scrutineering requirements which are as follows:

Front and rear tow points (suitable width='100%' width='100%' for removing a stuck vehicle, factory fitted tow points are not always that robust and may require upgrading)
Secure battery
Firm brake pedal
Working handbrake
Seat belts for all passengers, (no seat belt - no passenger, and no passengers on back of pick ups etc at any time!)
Secure fuel tank with sealed fuel cap
Working horn
Working brake light
No loose items in / on vehicle ( i.e. spare tyres, wheel braces, jacks, tool boxes et c. must be strapped down securely)
Fire extinguisher NOTE: has to be within reach of the driver when wearing seatbelt and must be in date.
Own suitable towrope, with shackles
Drivers of vehicles without screens are required to have suitable eye protection (safety glasses / goggles etc) NO EYE PROTECTION , NO DRIVING

We welcome your comments and would like to extend an invitation to your club members to attend this event.

With very best regards, and wishing you a happy new year,

Trevor Harrison
